Formed in 2008, the 7-piece Rock Solid the brainchild of Sandy Jamieson who wanted to put together a band capable of faithfully reproducing the songs that revolutionised pop music in the 50s, and 60s. Starting with some stalwarts of the local music scene who had been active since the sixties, he succeeded in attracting some younger musicians who brought with them their own influences, including soul, motown, pop, and even a little jazz.
So when you go to a Rock Solid gig you are likely to hear original Rock’n’Roll numbers from the likes of Elvis, Jerry Lee, Carl Perkins, and Fats Domino, a Little Soul courtesy of Ottis Redding, Sam and Dave, and Sam Cooke, and some Motown from Martha and the Vandellas, and The Temptations. Add in the 60s sounds of The Beatles, Stones, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Spencer Davis, Cliff Bennett and more and you get an idea what this rockin outfit is all about
