Gordon Smith is a former Scottish professional footballer who played for several clubs throughout his career. He started his career at Kilmarnock before moving to Rangers, where he won three Scottish Premier Division titles, three Scottish Cups, and one Scottish League Cup. He also played for Brighton & Hove Albion, where he famously missed a late chance to win the 1983 FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley.

Smith also represented the Scottish national team, earning a total of 15 capsl. He made his debut in 1980 against Portugal and went on to play in several important matches, including Scotland's 2-1 victory over England in the 1981 British Home Championship.

After retiring from playing, Smith took on a number of roles within Scottish football. He served as the Chief Executive of the Scottish Football Association (SFA) from 2007 to 2010, where he played a key role in the modernization of the organization. He also worked as a director of football at Glasgow Rangers, where he oversaw player recruitment and development.

In addition to his footballing career, Smith is known for his warm and friendly personality. He is highly respected within the footballing community for his integrity and his dedication to the sport. He is also known for his charitable work, having raised thousands of pounds for a number of different causes over the years.
